Dalhousie, Manali and Shimla Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Pick-up from Chandigarh Airport/Railway station and start your drive to Shimla. (Flight/Train details to be advised) Today, we start a scenic drive from Delhi meeting point towards Shimla. Shimla is known as `Queen of Hills’ and is a picturesque hill town nestled at an altitude of 2205 meters. If time permits in evening spends some time to the Mall, it is the main shopping street of the city with many clubs, restaurants, bars, tourist offices etc. Gaiety Theatre, an old British theatre and a center for many cultural activities, is also located here. (Note: while you are going for local sightseeing, entrance / activity fee is not included)
Day 2
Post breakfast, you have full day to visit Shimla. Shimla derives its name from Shyamala Devi, an incarnation of the goddess Kali, whose temple existed in the dense forest covering the Jakhu Hill in the early 19th century. The ‘Queen of Hills’ is a picturesque hill town nestled at an altitude of 2205 meters. You can visit the Himachal State Museum built in 1974 has a collection of Pahari sculptures, paintings, textile, jewellery, costumes etc. And the library has a range of historical books and manuscripts. A large open space located in the center of the city” it’s a home to one of the oldest libraries in the country. Later visit the Christ Church was built in 1846-1857 and is the second oldest church of north India. The stained glasses on the windows of the Church enhance its beauty and represent hope, faith, patience, charity and humility. You can also witness Jakhu Hill and Jakhu Temple: The Jakhu Hill is the highest peak in the city that offers a beautiful and a scenic view of the town. On top of the hill, there is a temple devoted to Lord Hanuman. Then pay your attention to `Tara Devi Temple`, dedicated to the goddess of stars, it is positioned amidst dense forests of oak and rhododendrons. Evening spends some time to the Mall, it is the main shopping street of the city with many clubs, restaurants, bars, tourist offices etc. Gaiety Theatre, an old British theatre and a center for many cultural activities, is also located here. Day 3
Today after breakfast, check-out from the hotel and proceed to Manali, enroute you drive past the Beas Sutlej Link Project, Pandoh Dam (photography not allowed), Scenic Kullu Valley, Hanogi Mata temple (Hindu goddess Hango mata) and Kullu Shawl factory (Type of shawl made in kullu). After the visit, you will drive to Manali. A gift of the Himalayas to the world, Manali is a beautiful township nestled in the picturesque Beas River Valley. It is a rustic enclave known for its cool climate and snow-capped mountains, offering respite to tourists escaping scorching heat of the plains. The place is a classic blend of peace and tranquility which makes it a haven for nature lovers. (Note: while you are going for local sightseeing, entrance / activity fee is not included)
Day 4
Post breakfast, we have a full day to visit Manali. A gift of the Himalayas to the world, Manali is a beautiful township nestled in the picturesque Beas River Valley. You will be visiting various ancient temples, like Hadimba Temple, which was constructed in 16th century a beautiful deodar forest on top of a hill in Manali. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Hadimba who was also the wife of the strongest of the Pandava brothers, Bhima. Later, Manu Temple, this magnificent temple is dedicated to the sage Manu, who is said to be the creator of the world and the writer of Manusmriti. Manali has several colorful monasteries that represent the rich culture and history of the Tibetan people settled in Kullu and Manali. And lets witness the Vashisht, a small village located around 3 km from Manali across the River Beas. This beautiful village is famous for its sulphurous hot water springs and Vashisht temple, built just next to the springs. The water from this spring is believed to have great healing powers, which can cure many skin diseases and other infections. Day 5
Day at leisure - You have a free day today. After breakfast, you are free to visit places of your choice by yourself to make your trip memorable. While you are finalizing your travel plan, we would be happy to suggest the places you should visit on this day. Although you have an option to book it through us or visit these place by yourself.
Day 6
Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel & drive to Dharamshala. Dharamshala also known as little Lahsa, has been the seat of his Holiness, the Dalai Lama, the leader of the Tibetans, since 1960. It consists of two distinct parts – Lower and Upper Dharamshala. Lower Dharamsala is a bustling civil and commercial center whereas Upper Dharamshala, known more commonly as McLeod Ganj, is the seat of Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. If time permits, you will start your sightseeing by visiting Mcleodganj, which is a popular hill station located in the upper part of Dharamshala. Here you will be visiting places like Bhagsu Nag Temple, it is having greenery all around the temple (Approx. 3 km from Mcleodganj). After that, you will be visiting Bhagsu Nag Waterfall which is a beautiful waterfall located behind the temple falling from the height of 20 meters. Then you will visit St. John’s Church which is associated with the history of Dharamshala as it was the first church built here, and Talho Sunset point which offers the breathtaking view of Naddi village. Later you will visit the Dalai Lama temple complex which is located in upper Dharamshala near the Mcleodganj bus stand. Later the War memorial which was constructed in the memory of those who fought for their motherland. (Note: while you are going for local sightseeing, entrance / activity fee is not included)
Day 7
Morning after breakfast, you will be taken on a local sightseeing tour of the city starting with a visit to Mcleodganj, which is a popular hill station located in the upper part of Dharamshala. Here you will be visiting places like Bhagsu Nag Temple, it is having greenery all around the temple (Approx. 3 km from Mcleodganj). After that, you will be visiting Bhagsu Nag Waterfall which is a beautiful waterfall located behind the temple falling from the height of 20 meters. Then you will visit St. John’s Church which is associated with the history of Dharamshala as it was the first church built here, and Talho Sunset point which offers the breathtaking view of Naddi village. Later you will visit the Dalai Lama temple complex which is located in upper Dharamshala near the Mcleodganj bus stand. Then you will visit Dal Lake whose name is assigned on the name of Dal lake located in Kashmir, and the War memorial which was constructed in the memory of those who fought for their motherland. Day 8
Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel & enjoy an entirely wonderful journey to Dalhousie. Dalhousie – tiny tinsel town spread across five hills near the Dhaulandhar mountain range. The town is built around five hills topped with snow and covered with lush greenery. Dalhousie is prettified with the existence of flawless art, colorful temples, handicrafts and an ancient Hindu culture. If time permits, you will visit the Mall Road of Dalhousie. It has three malls which are the most happening places in the town. Most of the activities are concentrated in and around these malls that are located on three hills—Moti Tibba, Bakrota and Potreyn. The next place to visit is G.P.O which is another popular place in Dalhousie. People visit this area to shop and eat street food. It’s a great place to interact with the locals, as well as lay your hands on Tibetan handicrafts, craftwork and woolen shawls. The G.P.O also has a reading room and a library. Finally, you have the St. John`s Church, which impresses you with its large collections of books about Dalhousie. The protestant church, built in 1863, is home to marvelous paintings of St. Peter and St. John. It is an important part of the town’s colonial heritage. Day 9
